I've just recently become interested in fire dancing, twirling ect. I live in Port Huron, is there any way to learn here, or do I need to go to Detroit? How did everyone learn? Was it self taught, or is there like an apprenticeship thing I can sign up for to learn from the pros?

As for me & most hoopers I know, Self taught. You'll be AMAZED by your intrinsic hooping abilities. But, do come to Detroit, it's helpful & FUN-full to hoop together. Also there are many videos. Classes/Training/Workshops are held in Portland,OR (and worldwide) if you're into that sort of thing.
Join Detroit Hoopers tribe & other hoop tribes, you'll be amazed at the connections you'll make.
